Pre-Prep Express Yourself!

This year, Children’s Mental Health Week (1st to 7th February) will be a great distraction for pupils as they lose themselves in a little bit of creativity and take their minds off COVID-19.

The theme for this year is ‘Express yourself!’ and it will be the focus for Mrs Daws’ assembly on Tuesday 2nd February. She will explain that expressing yourself is about communicating your individuality in ways that make you feel good through words, clothing and various forms of arts.

With this in mind, we are asking pupils to get creative and express their feelings in ways they find fun and that makes them happy. This can be through photography, cookery, arts and crafts, dance, singing, face painting, the list goes on! They may need some assistance from a sibling or parent; a perfect excuse to reduce screen time and have some fun together too. We encourage everyone to send pictures or videos to Mrs Skipper (by Thursday 6th February) for assembly on Friday 7th February.

Children are also invited to ‘Dress to express!’ on Wednesday 3rd February, donning clothes that make them feel good – anything goes! On Wednesday afternoon the PTFA are hosting an online afternoon tea with information for parents, focusing on looking after our Wellbeing and including a self-care booklet from the NHS, followed by breakout rooms to offer support and advice to each other. Mrs Daws will be on hand to listen to any concerns and answer any questions that parents may have about their child’s wellbeing.

On Friday evening the fun will continue with a family quiz organised by the PTFA, and these events always shape up to be very amusing and a great way to wind down after a busy week.
