Bullard competition – Instrumental and Vocal

On Thursday 10 March, a musical afternoon took place in the form of the annual Bullard House Music Competition: Instrumental and Vocal.

From Year 1 to Year 8, pupils performed with confidence and skill. It was clear for all to see the hard work, time, and effort that pupils had made in preparation for the event. Performances on piano, violin, clarinet, trumpet, voice, drums, guitar, recorder, and flute kept the audience well entertained.

“It was a real privilege to share music again and have such a supportive audience to perform to.” Philippa Briggs, Director of Music

We were thrilled to welcome our two adjudicators, Mr David Stowell, an award winning classically trained composer, who now mainly writes for film and TV, and Mr Chris Ellis, a professional trumpet player and highly renowned Music educator. They certainly had a challenging job!

The whole afternoon presented a real sense of passion, dedication and enjoyment for music. The final results were extremely close and saw Owls as the House winner for 2022. A special well done must go to our overall winners of each Year group too:

Year 1 – Rohan M (trumpet)
Year 2 – Frances T (piano)
Year 3 – Poppy G (piano) and Nayana M (clarinet)
Year 4 – Grace T (piano)
Year 5 – Zia T (piano)
Year 6 – Jacob C (piano)
