Economic students are national finalists

Sixth Form EconomicsEconomists Joshua (Crome, Lower Sixth), Lucy and Ethan (both Mancroft, Lower Sixth) have made it through to the national finals of business and accountancy competition BASE 2021.

To get to the finals, the students had to demonstrate commercial acumen in a variety of team challenges that aimed to give them an understanding of what it’s like to be an ICAEW Chartered Accountant while developing key employability skills.

They also had to prepare and record a video presentation to a board of senior managers communicating their thought processes and justifying the solutions they came up with for their client.

There were a lot of applicants and the standard of entries was particularly high, so this was a fantastic achievement and especially challenging as the students had to organise themselves to do this during lockdown. We wish them all the best in the finals on 16th June.

Additionally, Joshua and Lucy have been working independently for an Accounting A-Level qualification, which Joshua completed in one year, while Lucy started in September and has completed the AS.
