Exploring the habitats of pond life with Year 2

This week, pupils in Year 2 have begun to study the habitats of pond life. Pupils are starting to understand how plants grow and what they need to survive.
Year 2 has been gardening and clearing flower beds at school to prepare for vegetable planting. We will plant the seeds in pots to see the first shoots appear and then transfer when the plants are large enough.
Mrs Banks, Year 2 teacher,  said “We are hoping to receive tadpoles shortly, and caterpillars are on their way, allowing the children to see the complete butterfly cycle first-hand. We are certainly looking forward to this term, being outside in the sunshine and watching life grow in front of us.”
