A spotlight on GCSE Biology

This week, the Year 10 Biologists explored the impact of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis as part of their GCSE curriculum.

They recorded the number of oxygen gas bubbles produced by pondweed in water during a given time. This was conducted under different light intensities to observe how higher light intensity causes oxygen gas bubbles to be produced more quickly, implying a higher rate of photosynthesis.
