Langley School shortlisted for Broadland and South Norfolk Business Collaboration Award

We are delighted to announce that we have been nominated for the Broadland and South Norfolk Business Collaboration Award for our partnership with Nelsonspirit on the Nelson Scholarship.

In 2021, Langley School and Nelsonspirit came together to create a unique opportunity to grow and support young people in Norfolk through the foundation of the Nelson Scholarship. The Nelson Scholarship offers two fully-funded and two partially-funded places to Langley Sixth Form based in Loddon. The aim of the scholarship is to grow the leaders of tomorrow through a Langley education, alongside mentoring, leadership development and support through Nelsonspirit. By partnering with Nelsonspirit, we are able to offer scholars access to mentoring meetings with a crew of 40+ business and charity leaders, work experience and internship opportunities and one-to-one mentoring with Nelsonspirit founder, Nigel Cushion, whilst experiencing a broad, exciting and ambitious curriculum in the Sixth Form at Langley.

Headmaster of Langley School Jon Perriss said ‘We are delighted to be nominated for this award. Our collaboration with Nelsonspirit is one based on a mutual desire to give young people opportunity and experiences. The wider world is an ever-changing landscape and through this scholarship programme we are able to play a part in preparing ambitious and talented young adults, giving them confidence and skills to succeed.’

“At Nelsonspirit we are delighted to be partnering with Langley School to grow the leaders of tomorrow by providing mentoring, leadership development and inspiration from the leaders of today. It has be a great pleasure working with Langley on this exciting project. We have been hugely impressed by the interest of nearly two dozen state schools, and also by the fabulous quality of the young people applying for the Nelson scholarship. The current scholars have already made an impact and hugely impressed the 50+ leaders of today in the Nelsonspirit crew, who have been mentoring them.” Nigel Cushion, Founder of Nelsonspirit, added.

The Broadland and South Norfolk Business Collaboration Award honours businesses that have demonstrated success through a collaborative approach with other businesses. Judges of the award are looking to recognise a business that demonstrates an organisation that came together, the challenges and the ways this has been overcome and the benefits that the collaboration has achieved.

The partnership has enabled both organisations to support, encourage and develop the leaders of tomorrow in Norfolk and extend the Nelsonspirit Future Leaders programme.
