A pupil takes over as Head of Pre-Prep

Pupils welcomed a new Head of Pre-Prep for the day last week, as Miss Franklin joined the staff and made a great impression on what was an incredibly busy day.

To begin with, Miss Franklin (Cedar, Year 2) welcomed the children into school, along with parents, before answering telephone calls, emails and meeting all of the staff. She spent time with Academic Administrator Mrs Newnham, checking messages.

Miss Franklin was then joined by her Deputy Head, Miss Otti, and both went around the classrooms to greet the teachers and children before spending time counting the many behaviour tokens that the pupils had earned in the last week.

“My favourite parts were watching the lessons, serving at lunchtime and helping in Transition!” Miss Franklin

Miss Franklin met with Head of Prep Mr Crossley, watched the Nursery show (which she enjoyed very much), moved on to lesson observations and was very generous in her marking!

At breaktime, Miss Franklin spent time in the staff room catching up with everyone before meeting with Admissions Registrar Mrs Trett, Chief Operating Officer Mrs Green and Assistant HR Advisor Mrs Johnson. On the way back from her meetings, Miss Franklin popped in to see Matron to check that the flu vaccinations were all going smoothly.

Miss Franklin later read to the Transition class and helped with their nativity before lunch, where she sat at the head of the table and said Grace for everyone before clearing up plates.

After a well earned break at lunchtime, Miss Franklin went to visit her friends before a busy afternoon of rehearsals for the Carol Service recording and she even did a stint on the piano! At the end of the day Miss Franklin read to the Nursery children before sending them home and tidying up.

Head of Nursery and Pre-Prep Mrs Skipper said, “We can honestly say we would welcome Miss Franklin onto our team and it has been a pleasure working with her!”
