We roundup the latest in Music
We take a look at what’s been going on in our brilliant Music department here at the Prep School.
Music Treat Assemblies are up and running and, back at the helm after her maternity leave, Miss Briggs enjoyed performing to the School again in the first week back. She said, “Thank you to Oscar in Year 6 for volunteering first to perform on piano, playing ‘Parson’s Farewell’ arranged by David Blackwell.”
Miss Briggs continues, “Singing our hymn in morning assembly gives us all a lovely start to the day.”
Music lessons are as busy as ever, with Year 2 working with rhythm through singing and moving their bodies, Year 3 experimenting with vocal and instrumental work, Year 4 looking at Tudor music, Year 5 looking at music theory, Year 6 looking closely at notation, Year 7 creating ostinatos, and Year 8 learning about structure in music. Wow, what a great programme!
We’re pleased to say that Prep Choir and Magna Voce are busy rehearsing. Many of our musicians are looking forward to the upcoming Soiree on Tuesday 8th February, giving them the opportunity to rehearse the performance element of their instrumental and vocal learning.
Pupils are also already working hard in preparation for their ABRSM examinations. We very much look forward to hearing how they get on.
