Studying winter and hibernation

In the Reception classes recently, the children’s learning has been based around winter, including learning about the animals that hibernate. In our Outdoor Learning Centre, we had a lot of fun making animal nests and shelters for the animals who live in our School woods.

The children have loved playing with the penguin landscape and have used penguins in their number work to twenty, numbering, ordering and sticking twenty penguins on icebergs. In art, all the children have been ‘Creative Connies,’ making winter animal scenes out of cereal boxes.
