Transition Class

Getting ready for Reception.

In the Langley Pre-Prep there is a unique offering of a pre-Reception class for 3 to 4 year olds.

This option is perfect for little ones who are perhaps ready to move on from Nursery, but who aren’t yet of school age. Transition is also popular with families who have children in the Pre-Prep and Prep, as it means siblings will be on the same site and on the same term time schedule.

A typical week in Transition

Our Transition class does exactly what its name suggests; it supports children transitioning from Nursery to Reception.

Pupils take part in weekly PE, swimming, music, dance and Hobbies, just like the rest of Pre-Prep. As well as Maths and Literacy, pupils also enjoy a range of topic work every day. The curriculum is varied with a high emphasis on the basic skills each morning and daily reading.

Typically, afternoons are spent undertaking a wide variety of activities through a topic-based approach but also include sports, languages, outdoor learning and creative arts.

As much as pupils are challenged and supported in Transition, we know that every child is an individual, so finding the learning techniques that are right for them is essential. At Langley, we promise to know your child for who they are, and its often in Transition that we see them start to thrive, which puts them in the prefect position for moving up to Reception.
