Prep pupils learn the importance of the Great War

On Thursday 21st April Mr Woodward, who is the grandfather of one of our Year 7 pupils, very kindly offered to come into school and talk to the pupils about WW1 in relation to the book we are studying, ‘Private Peaceful’ by Michael Morpurgo.

The children were treated to an afternoon of role-playing, detailed information on WW1 and a helpful question and answer session. Mr Woodward was incredibly knowledgeable, and the children and staff learnt so much. He managed to make the event great fun whilst also conveying the gravity and importance of the Great War.

The children are now very well prepared for their trip later this term to see the play ‘Private Peaceful’ performed at Norwich Theatre.

The English staff are very grateful to Mr Woodward for giving up his time to come into school and bring to life such a significant event in history.
