Food fun for Roald Dahl’s birthday

‘Simple Bakes’ is one of our co-curricular Activities options, held Monday to Thursday in the Food Preparation and Nutrition Department.

To celebrate Roald Dahl’s birthday on 13th September, our Simple Bakes pupils in Year 6 to 10 had fun moulding sugar paste into their favourite characters and props from the Roald Dahl books. They created multi-coloured lollipops, candy sticks, chocolate bars, and fabulous Willy Wonka’s hats from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Others made a cute Alfie the tortoise from Esio Trot, a Matilda with attitude and a large peach from James and the Giant Peach.

Pupils also tried their hand at piping buttercream before carefully arranging their wonderful Roald Dahl creations on their cupcakes.

A great effort was made by all and it was a fun way to mark the celebrated author’s birthday.
