Year 1 at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens

This week, Year 1 had a fantastic time at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, visiting as part of their ‘Me and the Animals’ topic. They discovered a swamp house and felt like they were in a jungle as they investigated various habitats and wildlife. Their favourite animals were the crocodiles and they even found Sam N’s (Owls) ‘Adopt A Crocodile’ sign!

The gibbons put on a show for our Prep pupils by swinging through the branches, reminding the children of how they themselves look on the School playground monkey bars. The red panda played hide and seek in its enclosure, and the cockatoos put on an exuberant performance of their amazing voices.

A highlight for many of the children, who looked like intrepid explorers as they crossed a special enclosure, was seeing the two terrific tigers from the height of the walkway.

Sophie B (Crows) said: “This is the best day ever!”

Hattie M (Hawks) said: “I really enjoyed going on the walkway above the tigers.”

The children behaved brilliantly and were a credit to the School. Well done, Year 1!
