An insight into Transition Class
Our new for 2021/22 Transition Class children continue to enjoy a broad and exciting curriculum that enables each and every one of them to thrive. Here’s what they get up to…
Read Write Inc ‘Speed sounds’ sessions are really popular and they also gift children with the knowledge that enables them to become a confident reader and writer during hands-on learning. ‘Dough Disco’ and ‘Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle’ sessions also encourage gross and fine motor development to help aid writing.

Recent topics in Transition include, Into the Woods, for which pupils went on a theatre trip to see The Gruffalo; Space topic where they experienced a picnic on the moon, plus the current topic of Pets , which will include a visit from a member of the RSPCA shelter in preparation for a fundraising initiative.
Children enjoy a weekly PE lesson where they learn many skills – currently they are preparing for the Cross Country race in the last week of term. They also explore the beautiful School grounds twice a week during Outdoor Learning Centre sessions.
With access to both indoor and outdoor opportunities throughout the day, each child is supported in the development of key skills and progression. Class Teachers and skilled Teaching Assistants scaffold children’s learning through both child and adult initiated activities and short age-appropriate carpet sessions too.
We’re delighted to say that Transition children are happy and thriving at Langley Pre-Prep!
