Science exploration for Year 2 pupils

In Year 2, the children have been learning about materials and exploring their properties. We have been on a material hunt around the School and discussed why certain materials are used instead of another. We have sorted materials into man-made or natural categories, prompting discussions about items such as glass and tables. We learnt about the process of making wool and paper, and the importance of recycling our paper to make more paper.

We have also had fun learning about translucent, transparent and opaque materials while investigating their textures and uses. The children looked through the materials with scientific eyes, before adding them to our interactive working display on the window in the classroom.
