Holocaust Memorial Day

On Holocaust Memorial Day, during their English lesson, Year 8 pupils explored ‘fence’ symbolism as part of a unit on the Holocaust in Literature. They wrote poems and read them during Chapel service to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

Year 8 pupils and staff also listened to the testimony of Holocaust survivor Eva Clarke BEM via webcast, organised by the Holocaust Education Trust, London. Every year for more than 12 years, the English Department has invited survivors to share their stories as part of a programme aimed at raising awareness of those less fortunate than ourselves. Eva Clarke was the first survivor to visit Langley in 2008 and it was a pleasure to see her again, albeit via weblink.
