Boarding at Langley

Within our 110 acres of Grade I listed grounds designed by Capability Brown, Langley School is the perfect setting to grow up in. It’s a place where we live and learn together, where lifelong friendships are forged, and where you become part of a caring, warm and supportive environment.

Langley is inclusive in every way; our boarding family is made up of students who live locally, regionally in the UK, and internationally in places such as Asia, Europe and Africa. Langley is just south of Norwich, where there is an international airport (30 minutes by road from Langley) which flies direct to the transport hub of Skipol airport (40 minute flight from Norwich). A ninety minute train ride from London, Langley also has superb road and rail links to Stansted and London airports.

Routine – we find that daily routines really help, particularly for those new to boarding.

Co-curricular Activities – every afternoon we offer more than 80 Activities and the list is growing.

Prep sessions – these are supervised, so that academic support is always available.

Evenings – our dedicated Events and Activities coordinator ensures that there is a real range of activities for all age groups to enjoy.

Weekends – our programme of activities extends at weekends to include fun outings such as Go Karting and Go Ape. Our key areas of community, intellectual curiosity and environment are really explored during the weekends at Langley.

Facilities – on site we have a fully equipped gym, floodlit AstroTurf, extensive sports facilities, acres of parkland, ICT suites for personal and prep use, co-ed common rooms in the Main Hall, Wi-Fi in dormitories and across the school, library resources, and on-hand medical staff.

Leadership – older students can assist in the running of their Houses, and boarders have their own student representatives to promote their views and concerns. Kindness, curiosity, integrity and confidence are important and well-lived values of ours, and they are evident in the leadership. They are values passed on from student to student, and celebrated in the whole boarding community.

For ages 10 to 18, we are pleased to offer a variety of boarding options. Whether a full time or flexi boarder, students are part of the community from day one thanks to our staff and their wonderful pastoral care. Arrangements are easy to make, and we are happy to discuss with you the options, which include:

Full boarding – 24 hour care, seven days a week, fully catered, with laundry service throughout the week.

Weekly – tends to be Sunday to Thursday/Friday, with flexibility on return times. Offers full integration into the boarding experience

Flexi – occasional boarding has proven ideal for parents who, for example, travel on business

Day boarding – if you are unable to collect them after school, we can assist in looking after your child, providing an evening meal and supervised prep session, and even arranging a taxi for them to return home

Our diverse boarding team includes Houseparents, dedicated Pathways staff, Resident Grads and Gap students, all of whom take everyone under their wing. The team appreciates the many obstacles and challenges that youngsters face today, and they can be relied upon to provide continuous support and care. They are also a great source of fun, with a relaxed and approachable manner.
