Space to explore, for everyone.
Nestled within the trees, you will find a clearing that opens up into an Outdoor Learning Centre that is every child’s dream.
The ancient parkland and woodland at Langley Prep School is covered in colour as bluebells carpet the ground in spring and rhododendrons bloom in the summer.
We have a wood-fired pizza oven, campfires, an outdoor kitchen and mud hut shelter. We toast marshmallows, we build dens, we learn to tie knots. Outdoor Learning for our pupils is also about how to manage the woodland and understand the environment. They get the chance, too, to investigate flora and fauna, and discover minibeasts.
Our pupils absolutely relish every opportunity to be hands-on, make noise, offer ideas and explore; and they get to do it all year round. As independence and motivation increase, social skills flourish. We see a huge uptake in teamwork and self-confidence as well, thanks to pupil-led tasks and achievable goals.
