Our stunning 110 acres of Grade I listed grounds offer the ideal setting in which to grow up, offering a variety of boarding options shaped around modern family life. With Full Boarding, Flexi-Boarding, and Weekly Boarding options for children aged 10-18, families can choose a pattern that suits them, whether they stay every night or just when it works best.
At Langley, boarding is about far more than where you stay – it’s about becoming part of a vibrant, supportive community. Boarders live and learn together, pursue their passions through specialist pathways such as the Langley Football Academy or creative subjects such as Photography or Art, and forge lifelong friendships. Whether joining as a full-time or flexi boarder, pupils and students become part of the community from their first day at Langley, supported by our dedicated pastoral team who provide excellent care while encouraging increasing independence.
Our boarding family is made up of pupils and students who live locally, regionally in the UK and internationally, creating a diverse and welcoming boarding community.
Located just south of Norwich in the beautiful Norfolk countryside, Langley is a short 30-minute drive to Norwich International Airport, which flies direct to the international transport hub of Schiphol (a 40-minute flight). Langley also offers superb road with rail links to Stansted and London airports from the city of Norwich.
We understand that every family’s routine is different, which is why flexibility is at the heart of our boarding experience.
24-hour care, seven days a week, fully catered, with laundry service throughout the week.
Typically Sunday to Friday, with flexibility on return times, our weekly boarding offers a full integration into the boarding experience.
Occasional boarding is ideal for busy parents and families who require care for their children for those times when they themselves are away from home.
Flexiboarding offers a unique and exciting opportunity for students to enrich their educational experience while enjoying the best of both worlds—school life and home comfort.
Here are just a few reasons why flexi boarding could be the perfect fit for you:
Convenient Access to Facilities: With the convenience of campus life, you’ll have quick access to our facilities, allowing you to balance downtime and study during exam season.
Community and Friendship: Connect with fellow students from diverse backgrounds and make lifelong friends.
Activities and fun outings: From sports and arts to social events and weekend trips, there’s always something happening to keep you entertained and engaged.
Personal Growth: Flexiboarding encourages independence and self-reliance.

Activities and visits range from excursions to the coast and cinema, to enjoying the Arts with trips to theatres, exhibitions, shows and recitals. Our boarders are encouraged to continue their leisure pursuits outside of the school and are also free to utilise our excellent facilities on-site in the evenings and at weekends.

Boarding school can be an excellent choice for children who would benefit from a structured, supportive environment alongside extended opportunities beyond the classroom. At Langley School, boarding allows students to fully engage in school life, including specialist pathways such as football, rugby, the arts, Combined Cadet Force, and other co-curricular interests. With more time on-site, boarders can hone their skills through regular practice and access to specialist facilities after the school day ends – something that can be harder to achieve with the daily commute! Combined with strong pastoral care and a close-knit community, this makes boarding particularly well-suited to students looking to grow academically, gain independence, and pursue their passions.
Boarding offers a balance of academic focus, personal development, and community life. Students benefit from supervised prep, access to facilities beyond the school day, and a wide co-curricular programme. Just as importantly, they develop independence, resilience, and strong friendships. A boarder at Langley compares it to having a ‘massive sleepover with all your siblings, every day!’
There is no single “best” age. We welcome children between the ages of 10-18. Trying occasional or flexi boarding first can help younger students or first-time boarders adjust before committing to full-time boarding.
Experienced boarding staff provide emotional support, structured routines, and a welcoming house environment. Regular communication with home is encouraged, and we promote participation with evening and weekend activities from the start. This helps pupils settle quickly and feel part of the community. Support is available from a wide range of people including boarding staff, Heads of Year, Prefects, EAL teachers and guardians so students always have someone to talk to.
Boarders are always well supervised, with staff living on-site and available throughout the day and night. Evenings include structured prep sessions, activities, and free time, all within a safe and supportive framework.
Boarders can regularly contact parents through phones, messaging, and scheduled calls. Depending on a boarders’ age, pupils hand their phones into staff to be secured safely at certain points in the day, but we are happy to facilitate phone calls back home when required. We also use a comprehensive boarding management app called Reach, which allows us to stay in contact with parents, gain consent for trips, manage day to day operations including leave requests and pastoral care.
Choosing the right boarding school for your family is a highly personal decision, with many important factors to consider. These include the academic curriculum, breadth of co-curricular opportunities, quality of boarding provision, cost, and the level of pastoral care available. For international families, English language support and how children are integrated are also key considerations.
It’s equally important to think about the size, setting, and location of the school, as well as whether its ethos and environment will suit your child’s personality and long-term ambition. Beyond practical elements, the decision often comes down to instinct, with an overall feeling that your child will belong in one school over another. No single school is right for every family, but what matters most is finding a place that feels like the best fit for your child and your wider circumstances.
Boarding gradually encourages students to manage their time, organise their work, and develop a range of practical skills such as cooking, washing up, laundry and managing a budget. Over time, this helps students gain confidence, discipline and prepare for the outside world. Just as importantly, boarding encourages social independence through living with peers from different cultures and participating in daily activities outside of the classroom.
From September 2026, we will be launching the Boarding Life Skills Award, representing our commitment to developing important skills outside of the classroom.
Yes, Langley offers short term stays with the minimum stay usually being one term. We have short term visitors joining us each year mainly from Europe, however, most of our international pupils come for a minimum of two years to complete GCSE and A Level courses.
For those arriving in September, we have a Welcome Induction the day before the first day of term for families and pupils to families themselves with the school, their teachers and where to go on their first day. It is also an opportunity to meet other new pupils and for parents to meet other parents, teachers and the boarding team as well as having the opportunity to look around the school and boarding house. For those pupils who will be travelling to the UK independently, we can arrange an airport pick up the morning prior to the first day of term.
For those pupils joining mid-year, we encourage families or guardians to accompany their children to see the school and meet the boarding team. If this is not practical, we can arrange an airport collection to bring the pupil to school.
