Sixth Form Beyond the Classroom

Whenever we chat to our alumni, they always talk about the incredible opportunities at Langley Sixth Form. Here are just some examples of what you can get stuck into:

Sport is one of our greatest strengths. We’re famous for it. You can study it as a BTEC, join a Small Group Sport session at lunchtime, and play sport at the top level. You can also get involved in the annual whole-school House events of Cross-Country and Indoor Rowing and, of course, Sports Day.

We believe in life experience as well as academia. So, every day (apart from Friday), your final session of the day will be Enrichment. Each term, you pick from more than 80 options, from science specialisms, to coding, to Fantasy Share Trading.

Use your lunchbreaks to work in our Languages Library; be inspired by Women in STEM, or join the co-curricular offerings of Debating, Medical Science and Model United Nations. It’s all there for you, so go on: make moves, create waves, stir things up.

Our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is run by ex-service personnel and teachers at Langley Senior School. Join the Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force sections, and learn about leadership, navigation, first aid and survival training. Adaptability, resilience and confidence are what you need in life, and you get it through the CCF –  through trips and courses that could steer your path in life.

Colleges, universities and employers love to see the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award on a CV. It’s prestigious; it’s an achievement; I mean, it has the royal seal of approval. But it’s also awesome for you. You can choose where you focus your effort; you get to help people and make a difference; you can specify the skills you want to develop. It’s your DofE – do it your way.
