Langley School has a long and proud history of developing strong, talented rugby players. We have built a reputation for sporting excellence, with former pupils progressing to Leicester Tigers and other top-level clubs.

England and Leicester Tigers scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet began his rugby journey at Langley Prep School, and our position as hosts of the National U15 Rugby Festival reflects the strength of our rugby heritage.

A pathway built around the individual

The Langley Rugby Academy follows the successful format of the Langley Football Academy, providing a specialist rugby pathway for pupils in Year 10 to Sixth Form.

Players benefit from additional timetabled rugby sessions each week, combining technical and tactical coaching with a carefully planned programme of physical and personal development.

Our coaching team brings specialist expertise gained through talent development, junior academies and professional playing careers. Many also coach within local clubs, ensuring that our methods remain informed by contemporary thinking and developments within the game.

From September 2026, players will also benefit from a fully refurbished gym equipped with the latest equipment to support their strength, conditioning and athletic progression.

Across our 100-acre campus, rugby players have access to six pitches, a scrum machine, sports training equipment and extensive indoor and outdoor facilities. It is an environment designed to help young athletes train with purpose and perform with confidence.

Our player pathways are supported by strong links with Leicester Tigers and several other clubs across the UK. We also maintain connections with Eastern Counties Rugby, local clubs and universities throughout East Anglia and across the UK.

For some pupils, that may mean pursuing an academy or professional pathway. For others, it may lead to opportunities in coaching, performance or athletic development.

Go further outside the school day

Langley’s full, weekly and flexi-boarding options allow pupils to immerse themselves more fully in Academy life.

Boarders can benefit from greater access to the school’s facilities beyond the normal school day, including supervised opportunities to use the gym and continue their athletic development. Boarding also provides valuable time for recovery, preparation and connection with teammates following training sessions and fixtures.

For pupils balancing academic ambition with a demanding sporting schedule, boarding offers structure, community and the opportunity to make the most of everything the Academy provides.

Langley Rugby Academy is open to boys and girls entering Year 10 through to Upper Sixth, or Year 13. The programme is designed for pupils who want to develop their rugby alongside an education that offers a wide range of opportunities both on and off the pitch. The Academy launches in September 2026 at Langley Senior School and Sixth Form on our 100-acre campus in Loddon, near Norwich. Families considering entry into Year 10, Year 11 or Sixth Form are encouraged to contact our Admissions team to discuss availability and the most suitable point of entry.
Begin by contacting Langley’s Admissions team and telling them that you are interested in the Rugby Academy. We can arrange an initial conversation, a tour of the school and an opportunity to meet our Head of Sport, learn more about the programme and explore our facilities. Families can also book tours here.

To formally apply to Langley, families complete an application through our Admissions Portal. The wider admissions process may also include a Taster Day, interview and age-appropriate assessment. Applications are accepted throughout the year, although early applications are recommended because places are subject to availability.
There is no single playing standard that defines every successful Academy pupil. Players arrive with different levels of experience, strengths and ambitions. Some may be developing their confidence and technical foundations, while others may already be competing at a high level or working towards a professional pathway.

Our coaches work with each pupil as an individual, helping them progress from their own starting point.
Yes. Langley Rugby Academy is open to ambitious boys and girls entering Year 10 and above. Langley is committed to creating opportunities for pupils to play rugby in the format and at the level most suited to their development. Academy players receive specialist coaching, individual athletic development and opportunities to build their technical understanding, confidence and wider knowledge of the game. Prospective female players and their families are welcome to speak to our Admissions and Sport teams about the coaching, fixtures and development opportunities available.
Yes. From September 2026, the Rugby Academy fee for pupils in Year 10 through to Upper Sixth is £1,440 per term, including VAT. This is charged in addition to the relevant Langley School day or boarding fees. Fees are reviewed annually, so families should consult the latest fee schedule or contact Admissions for a personalised and up-to-date breakdown of costs.
Academy sessions are integrated into the school timetable, enabling pupils to develop their rugby alongside their GCSE or Sixth Form studies. Players benefit from additional specialist training each week while continuing with their full academic programme.
Langley Rugby Academy is based at Langley Senior School and Sixth Form in Loddon, near Norwich, Norfolk. The school is set within a spacious 100-acre countryside campus approximately 11 miles south-east of Norwich and a short-drive from nearby Suffolk towns including Beccles, Bungay and Lowestoft. We are perfectly located for local Norfolk and Suffolk rugby players, but welcome talented players from further afield an overseas with full, weekly and flexi boarding options.

Players have access to six rugby pitches, a scrum machine, a gym and extensive indoor and outdoor training facilities.

Langley operates more than 25 school minibus routes across Norfolk and Suffolk, with single and return journeys available. The campus is also approximately a 30-minute drive from Norwich International Airport, while Norwich provides road and rail connections to London, Stansted Airport and other parts of the United Kingdom.
