Our Sports staff are passionate about finding opportunities for pupils to learn and explore a range of games and sporting activities.
The core sports at Langley Prep School are football, netball, cricket, rugby, athletics and hockey. Swimming lessons are an important life skill, with lessons for all our children including those in Bluebell Nursery. In the warmer months, tennis is also taught. Pupils also have the opportunity to join the Junior Langley Football Academy from Year 3.
Our Sports staff are adept at tailoring instruction to all age groups, and they encourage all pupils to try, to persevere, and to enjoy movement.
We run Sports Days at all levels of the Prep School, and families love to come and watch the children racing, jumping and throwing.
Many of our pupils compete locally and at county level as they progress through the school. There is healthy competition for places in our sports teams, and we make sure all children feel supported, especially on the tough days where the match doesn’t go to plan.
We teach children to be resilient, to play as a team, to communicate clearly, and to exhibit good sportsmanship. We are so proud of the achievements of our pupils, and those achievements are not just about trophies and medals. The achievements that can mean the most are when we see a child overcome obstacles or fears to achieve something that they may not have felt possible. Some of the most important life lessons happen outside the classroom.
