Why Year 6 to 8 at Taverham?

At Langley, we have always been great at recognising that every child is an individual. We discover what makes a child’s eyes light up, what gets them talking and what ignites a fire in them. We also know that not every child is ready for Senior School at the same time and, again, it’s down to the individual.

Year 6 to Year 8 at our Prep School sees new leadership opportunities as pupils move up to the top end of the school. As a result, the confidence they gain in those final years sees every one of them develop a natural readiness for Senior School life.

Our mentorship programme pairs our experienced Year 8s with young Year 3 pupils, with the former offering a friendly face, a listening ear and a whole lot of support. Year 3 marks the start of the Prep School, so it is a big step up from Pre-Prep, and the pupils adore their Year 8 mentors.

Specialist teaching in Year 8 at the Prep School helps ensure a smooth transition up to our Senior School. By helping prepare pupils ahead of things like subject choices, which are made in Year 9, staff support each child’s journey to make it both seamless and exciting.
