Friendships that last forever.
Our alumni group is one with a rich history, encompassing leavers from Langley School (Icenians) and Taverham Hall (Old Taverhamians). The active network maintains friendships, offers support and updates, and raises funds for key projects at Langley School.
The history of Langley dates back more than 165 years. It was in 1858, by order of Court of Chancery, that King Edward VI Grammar School in Norwich was divided into sections. Then, amalgamating a number of the school sections in 1910, a new City of Norwich School was built in Eaton. The senior section moved out to Langley Park in Loddon in 1946 and named itself Langley Senior School. The prep section moved to Beech Hill House in Thorpe St Andrew, forming Langley Preparatory School. In 2016, Langley Preparatory School in Thorpe St Andrew merged with Taverham Hall Preparatory School, forming Langley Prep School at Taverham Hall.
Celebrating past heroes
Our connections with the past are vital links to those who made Langley what it is today. We will continue to celebrate our history, our former staff and pupils, and enjoy the nostalgia of old team photos – first days and new uniforms. All those moments are re-lived when shared.
Supporting future leaders
We want to forge the way for the future by supporting our latest school leavers as they embark on life after Langley. We provide them with a network of support and contacts, and a forum for conversation, through our growing alumni group. If someone is looking for a work placement, a new business contact, a room to rent in a city they are moving to, we can help.
Together, we celebrate the past while forging the future.
Every school term, we invite alumni to Langley Senior School to speak about their career path and address our current pupils. We have two popular formats, one being the Langley Lecture Series, with a formal presentation about an alumni’s field of expertise, and also the Icenian Working Lunches, during which an alumni member sits around the table with pupils, chatting about what they have done since school and their career to date.
We welcome alumni to contact Mr Jon Kempton about coming in to speak to our pupils. It is also our desire to work with some Old Taverhamians, and launch a Lecture Series at our Prep School. So please do get in touch.
“Our alumni tell us that their time at Langley has shaped their lives for the better. Join in to connect with those who went before and those who will follow later”
