International Boarding Facilities At Langley

We find that daily routines really help, particularly for those living away from home for the first time, so our international boarders are fully immersed into the boarding routine.

Every afternoon, in the final timetabled lesson of the day, pupils choose from a list of more than 80 activities. These co-curricular sessions – ranging from chess, to robotics, to cookery – allow our international boarders to pursue their passions or try new things.

After the evening meal in the dining hall, supervised prep sessions offer academic support while our international boarders study. Within the boarding support team, a dedicated Events and Activities coordinator ensures that there is a real range of activities for all age groups to enjoy in the evenings after prep, and also at weekends. Fun outings include go-karting and Go Ape, a popular outdoor adventure experience.

Our Boarding Team is there to support the integration of each individual into the school community. They are expert in dealing with challenges such as balancing the varied demands of the school day, keeping in touch with friends and family back home, and forming new friendships.

Our staff team is there in the boarding houses in the evenings, providing guidance, ensuring that prep is done and making sure the younger pupils go to sleep on time, ready for another busy day.

Our catering offering for boarders must fulfil lots of requirements: variety, a balance of nutrients and, of course, great flavours. The food we offer has to fuel all of our pupils’ busy days, so we place a high priority on getting it right. We offer three meals a day along with snacks to maintain energy levels. Our Sixth Formers have their own café in the Alston Centre. We are happy to cater to special dietary requirements.
