Frequently Asked Questions

  • We will be operating at a capacity of 60 children per day, split between the age groups.

  • Explorers will be ready to welcome your child from 8.30am Monday-Friday, and will remain open until 6pm each night; perfect for working parents.

  • Yes, there is ample parking on site.

  • Yes, we ask that you prepare a packed lunch each day. Please make sure that you send your child with sufficient hydration. We do have water facilities on site, so if your child has a refillable bottle, that will come in handy.
Please note: due to allergy risks, we ask that no nuts in any lunch items (including Nutella/chocolate spread). We also politely request that fizzy & energy drinks are not supplied to children due to health risks.

  • Explorers are up for adventure in all weathers! We ask that children come suitably dressed for the weather conditions, including good quality shoes and outdoor wet weather gear. If they have wellies, that would be sensible. It is wise to send in a change of clothes at the beginning of the week just in case. Clearly, if the weather is really inclement we will not be outdoors, but we do try to use our grounds as much as possible.

  • Our in-house swimming teacher, Mrs Wood, is also our overall Explorers Leader, and is brilliantly equipped to support young people of all swimming abilities. Ratios will follow national standards to ensure appropriate supervision at all times. Please supply a swimming cap to make the changing process efficient and to maintain hygiene standards.

  • If children are able to self-administer medications, please let us know by emailing Explorers@langleyschool.co.uk along with their medication schedule. Our club leader is trained in the administration of basic medications. Please let us know of any complex medication or medical needs that your child has so that we can assess further.

  • There is a defibrillator on site, and our staff are trained to use it. We follow normal emergency procedures and there will always be a first-aid trained member of staff on site during Explorers opening hours.

  • We are experienced in the use of Epipens. The booking form will allow you to tell us about other allergies or dietary needs. We may need to follow up with you to ensure we have a complete understanding of your child’s issues. Food will not be prepared on site, but we would ask that you discuss with your child the need to avoid sharing food with others. We will be supervising lunchtimes to ensure that children eat in a safe, controlled environment. We ask that no nuts are supplied in packed lunches for any child.

  • A day at Explorers is £65, and a full week costs £275. We need to process payments in advance in order to ensure the correct staffing levels are in place to operate the club.

  • Please contact us in advance of making a booking (Explorers@langleyschool.co.uk) to discuss your child’s needs in more detail.

  • A dedicated contact number will be made available to you during the booking process. The phone will be answered during opening hours.

  • We know that trusted adults such as grandparents are often needed to support working parents, particularly during the school holidays. During the booking process, we ask that you give us the names of up to 2 other people (other than both parents) that can pick up your child in the event of your unavailability. We will need their full names, contact details and an up to date photograph to identify them on arrival. We will also ask them for ID when they arrive to ensure our safeguarding standards are adhered to.

  • Yes, we do.

  • We will contact you in the event of any issue in operating the club and will provide as much notice as possible. In extreme cases, we may be unable to provide reasonable notice.

  • Our staff are trained in behaviour management and will handle any disagreements with their customary skill. A link to the behaviour policy will be provided in due course. It will be based on behaviour management practices already in place at the school.

  • Explorers Terms & Conditions can be found here. They will also be part of the booking process and will be sent along with the payment link once capacity is confirmed.
