Who we are.
Meet the coaches who are at the heart of Langley’s sporting provision. From professional players to personal trainers, our staff have a phenomenal depth of knowledge and experience.
Formerly a professional player with Swansea Whites and London Welsh, Steve has more than 20 years of experience working across schools, education, coaching and sports management. He is a Level 4 Coach and experienced Coach Educator.
He moved into coaching and education after a successful playing career, and has worked in a number of schools (both state and independent), National League clubs and across the university game for both men and women.
A warm and personable man with a calm and friendly demeanor, Steve has a huge appetite for making learning fun and providing an enjoyable environment for the appropriate level of rugby abilities across the curriculum. Having played and coached across most age groups and senior teams in several representative teams, he brings a depth of knowledge and vast toolbox of skills as a coach, educator and mentor.
Steve is hoping to further enhance and expand Langley’s rugby programme and develop all variations of the game across the Prep and Senior and School. His focus is to build links with local and wider community partners, primary schools, local state schools and surrounding sports clubs, while providing continuous support to rugby playing pupils throughout the whole school.
Level 3 Rugby Coach and qualified Strength & Conditioning coach, Jonny has extensive experience working in talent development for Yorkshire Rugby Academy and Leicester Tigers, where he still coaches in the Junior Academy in Norfolk. Jonny has also worked in professional rugby in France and is close to completing a PhD in talent development in rugby union.
A coach at the Leicester Junior Academy, Ben supports the school’s rugby programme, and is an all-round sportsman himself. He spent time in America at university as a student athlete, studying Pre-Medicine and Pre-Professional Zoology. After his degree, he returned to the UK, continuing remote education through the University of Florida, studying Exercise Physiology and Human Performance. Ben is Head of Cricket at Langley, playing at club level for Mattishall, and is also a personal trainer.
In the staff set up, we also have Josh Bray our Strength & Conditioning Gap Student, and Charlotte Le-Mays our match day and sports events Physio.
“One of our key objectives is to provide good competition alongside personal development of the individual in a team environment, alongside a balanced academic curriculum at Langley.”
