Langley Takes Pride in Progress

The month of June sees Pride being celebrated up and down the country. And no more so than here at Langley School!

The start of the month saw our librarian, Cate Dorey, proudly welcome several new LGBTQIA+ themed additions to the library, from autobiographies and general information books on the topic to fictional and graphic novel stories, including the popular Heartstoppers series (currently a Netflix smash!). These are now freely available for students to borrow and find out more from.

Timed to commemorate the month the original Stonewall Riot protests took place in America in 1969, the Pride movement reminds us how important it is to a person’s mental health. That everyone feels accepted, no matter who they are or have feelings for, and the key part is that others’ kindness, understanding and acceptance play in this.
