Celebrating A-Level results 2021

A-Level results this year saw 94% of Langley’s Upper Sixth cohort achieving A* to C grades, with individual success stories that make the whole community proud. What’s more, 100% of our students achieved A* grade in German and Spanish, and 100% also secured A* to C grades in Biology, English, Geography, History, Law, and Politics. A fantastic 76% of our university applicants obtained their first choice destination.

Headmaster Jon Perriss comments, “I am delighted with these impressive results and warmly congratulate all the young people for whom these grades are a validation of two years of hard work in incredibly testing circumstances.

“This cohort is the strongest Langley has had for many years, regardless of the method of assessment, and the results are testament to the integrity of the process and calibre of the student. I am grateful to the professionalism and care shown by the teaching staff who have supported these young people through their journey and can be rightly proud of the achievements too.”

Heads of School set a brilliant example with their academic results. Joe goes to Loughborough to continue to play rugby and study Sport; Tegan will go to Southampton to read Physiotherapy; while Deputy Heads Freya and Diana go respectively to UCL to read Politics and International Relations, and King’s College London to read Liberal Arts.

Huge congratulations also to James and Jess who will be going to Cambridge following A*s in all their subjects (History, English and German for James, and History, English, Spanish and French for Jess). Both have been regular contributors to school newspaper Perseverando Post, long-standing members of the Debating Society (which has gained recognition from the English Speaking Union for its contribution to a culture of Oracy at the school) and have taken part in all manner of other activities and sports at Langley. James leaves Langley after joining in Year 7, to go on to read English Literature, while Jess who has been with us from the Prep School will go forth and study Linguistics, a subject on which she won a Public Speaking competition in Year 9.

Talented Musician Scarlet takes her superb grades, including A* and A, to study Music at Leeds Conservatoire. A*s and As have also been secured by Matt (who has signed a professional contract with Ipswich Town FC), and exceptional kayakers Charlotte and Toby. They have all been able to complete their punishing training regimes and still make headway in their academic pursuits due to the support and guidance provided at Langley. Matt heads off to Loughborough university, while Charlotte and Tobias both have places at UEA on a Physiotherapy course and Marketing and Management courses, respectively.

Wherever our Langley leavers are off to next, we wish them every success and we look forward to following their progress. Each student becomes a member of our alumni, The Icenian Society, which is superb way to stay in touch and also network throughout the years. Here’s to friendships that continue long after School.
