“Energetic and forward-thinking” Headmaster to move on after 5 years at Langley School

Jon Perriss, Headmaster at Langley School, Norfolk, will be leaving Langley at the end of this academic year after five years in post. He will be taking up his new role as Headteacher Jon Perriss March 24 scaled of St. Catherine’s British School in Athens in September 2024. He will remain in post as Headmaster at Langley School until the end of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Mr Perriss’ time in the role has been characterised by an energetic and forward-thinking approach to all facets of the school. During his tenure, Jon has driven initiatives to develop the breadth of learning opportunities across the school, as well as prioritising the role of technology in delivering education. Initiatives have included curriculum expansion at Sixth Form, adding BTEC and EPQ qualifications to the wide range of A Level courses offered, and the extension of available classes to include babies from 6 months to 2 years at Bluebell Nursery on the Prep School site. Outside of the classroom, Jon has led a renewed focus on performing arts and has ensured that Langley School continues to lead the way in sporting success nationally.  Jon has also spearheaded an investment in digital learning, leading to the school being awarded prized Microsoft Showcase School status.

Jon Perriss commented: “It has been my privilege to lead Langley School over the last five years. Whilst Covid 19 created many challenges, it did lead to a closer set of bonds being formed across the school community, and those relationships have enabled us to make rapid progress in ensuring the school is ready to support our young people as they go into the world beyond Langley.”

David Stanbridge, Chair Of Governors, said: “We are very thankful for all of Jon’s contributions to life at Langley. He has brought enormous commitment and positive energy to the role, and he has delivered enhancements to school life which will leave a long legacy. Whilst saddened that he is moving on, we wish him every success with his future plans. We will announce details of our new leadership team in the next few days.”
