Langley School appoints Mr. Simon Cooke as new Head of Senior School

Simon Cooke, currently Senior Deputy Head, will be taking up the role of Head of Senior School at Langley Senior School, effective September 2024. This follows the news on Friday 22nd March that Jon Perriss, current Headmaster, will be leaving Langley School to take up a new role at St. Catherine’s British School in Athens.

Simon has a long and distinguished secondary school career. Prior to his two years in his current role as Senior Deputy Head, Simon was Vice Principal for nine years at Hinchingbrooke School (1800 pupils) in Cambridgeshire. Prior to that he spent 17 years at Icknield High School in Bedfordshire, latterly as Assistant Head. Simon also has significant experience of school governance in his 10 years as a Governor of Bedford School.

Mr Cooke’s time in his role at Langley School has been characterised by passion for excellence across all facets of the school. He has delivered a comprehensive review of academic and operational processes, including the school development and self-review systems, as well as embarking upon a transformation in academic standards. Simon’s passion for education shines through in every interaction, and under his leadership Langley School will continue to demonstrate that it is a community of opportunity and excellence.

Simon’s priorities in his new role are focused upon the continued pursuit of academic and co-curricular excellence, further evolving the curriculum offering to adapt to changing pupil and workplace demands, and to ensure Langley School is an environment where pupils’ potential is realised, and where their unique talents can be expressed.

Simon Cooke commented: “I am delighted to take on the position as Head of Langley Senior School. Under my Headship, we will continue to build upon the very many strengths of the school, delivering a curriculum that keeps pace with the changing needs of our pupils, ensuring they are equipped to enter the world beyond Langley. We will continue to focus upon excellence in all areas of education, in and out of the classroom. Our emphasis on the importance of community will remain at the heart of our promise to pupils and parents”.

Simon will be joined on the Langley Executive Team by Roger Outwin-Flinders, Head of Langley Prep School, Lisa Green, Chief Operating Officer, and Duncan Anderson-Brown, Interim Chief Financial Officer.
