Simon has been a teacher for 28 years, teaching PE and Maths as well as a number of other subjects throughout the years. At his previous school, Hinchingbrooke Secondary School in Huntingdon, North Cambridgeshire, Simon was Vice Principal for nine years. His role was far-reaching and included overseeing pastoral, teaching and learning. He achieved the NPQH award (National Professional Qualification for Headship) and he has led on a number of school improvement initiatives in his 19 years as a Senior Leader. Simon joined Langley in September 2022 as Senior Deputy Head and, in September 2024, became the Headmaster of Langley School. Deborah Cooke, Simon’s wife, also works at Langley School and the couple have two grown-up children, Josiah and Elijah.
Clare has worked in education for 20 years; she has been a senior leader for 11 years and the Head of a primary school in Surrey for the last five years. Clare is also a former Teaching School Director, an Executive leadership coach and mentor, and was the Strategic Lead for Curriculum and Artificial Intelligence at PACE Academy Trust. She is keen to explore new approaches to learning that remain true to school values but also prepare children for the challenges and possibilities of the future. Clare lives in Norfolk with her family, including two children.
Malcolm has had a 46-year career in UK Financial services, which culminated in serving 18 years as the Group Chief Executive Officer for a UK Stock Exchange (AIM) listed business. He was appointed as the First Chairman of a Private Equity backed leading East Anglian Wealth Management and advisory business.
Malcolm was appointed Governor and Trustee in March 2022 and was appointed in September 2025 as Chair of the Board of Governors. Malcolm is a proud alumnus of Langley School and served as Head Boy in 1974.
Caroline is Vice Chair of the Board and Operations Committee Chair. Caroline, a graduate in both History and Marketing, has been a marketing professional for over 30 years. Her career began at Aviva, where she led the company’s marketing and customer strategy as well as holding responsibility for customer analytics and data management. Her career expanded internationally with a move to U.S-based CVS Health, becoming Senior Vice President accountable for marketing, digital and customer experience across the company’s global footprint. She is a leadership development consultant at MatchFit, and provides executive coaching services to major global clients as well as to senior education leaders at the Co-Op Academy Trust.
David BSc(Hons) CEng MRAES, achieved a BSc (Hons) Aeronautical Engineering degree from City University and, today, heads up Swift Technology Group. Prior to that, David worked in the Netherlands doing a similar product development role for a new startup company, in which he ultimately became a co-owner. David is Chair of the Prep School Committee.
Peter is the Director of four agricultural businesses and the former Director of a co-operative purchasing organisation. As a Governor, Peter is Director of the Langley School Development Ltd. He has two children at Langley, who joined in Nursery and Reception respectively.
Kim currently works as the Director for Complex Health, Safeguarding and Professional Standards at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Kim is an NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse, with a bachelor’s degree from the UEA in Mental Health Nursing and also an LLB Business Law degree from the London Guildhall University. At Langley, Kim is the governor responsible for Safeguarding and Early Years. Her two children are at Langley.
John is a director at Quotall (IS) Ltd, digital insurance business. John is a keen runner and member of the Norwich Road Runners club; he is interested in technology and is an avid music lover. John and his wife have two sons, who have both been through Langley Prep and Langley Senior.
Julian is joint managing director of Barnwell Print Ltd. Julian went to both Langley Prep and Langley Senior School. His interest in diving has forged an extraordinary career that led to his discovery of the Gloucester 1682 shipwreck off the Norfolk coast. In 2021, Julian became an Honorary Research Fellow of the UEA and, in 2024, Julian was awarded the Freedom of London – a prestigious honour that recognises lifetime achievement.
Denise (LLB hons De Montfort University) is a Partner at Birketts and Head of the Family Team in the Norwich office. At Langley, she is the Governor responsible for Resources. Cold water swimming, yoga, cooking and nutritional medicine are some of Denise’s interests. She lives with her husband and two daughters, with her youngest at Langley Senior School.
Stephen, who has a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from Reading University and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), is a founding Partner of REAL Consulting. Stephen is the Governor responsible for Estates and Property. Stephen is a keen open water swimmer, cyclist, member of CAMRA and loves travelling as a family. His two children went to Langley.
Michael, who has a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Bath and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds an MBA from Cass Business School, London, was appointed a Governor in March 2026. Michael enjoyed a career of over 40 years, mainly n Housebuilding and Construction, and is currently a Non-Executive Director of Denbury Homes, having previously been the Managing Director of Hopkins Homes. Michael, who is married to Kirstein and lives in Suffolk, has three grandchidren at Langley. He enjoys family, sport and travelling.
Peter is a Director at a major Tier 1 Construction Company having delivered multi-million pound projects all over the country. When he isn’t at work you will find him at his childhood rugby club Diss RFC, fishing or furthering his academic qualifications. He lives with his wife and two daughters who both attend Langley Prep School.
Dawn has been teaching in Secondary education (11-18) for almost 30 years, in a wide variety of roles including Head of Science, Assistant Principal, Designated Safeguarding Lead, Designated Teacher for Looked after Children and Young Carers and currently teaches Science alongside her role as Director of SEND. She holds a BSC (Hons) in Biomedical Science, an MSc in Education Management and a PhD in Education, along with the National SENDCo qualification. She is passionate about ensuring children and young people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities, are fully supported to fulfil their potential and can therefore access the very best opportunities in their future lives.
John is Director of JMC Education, a multi award‑winning consultancy supporting schools in the UK and internationally through professional development, inspection preparation and school improvement services, with sector awards recognising the high quality and personalised impact of his work. His career spans senior leadership, school improvement, teacher development and inspection preparation, and he is widely recognised for excellence in professional learning. John is a nationally respected speaker and consultant, specialising in leadership development, teaching and learning, and inspection frameworks. He studied Biology at Nottingham University. He previously served as a Master at Harrow School and has worked in several leading London independent schools, bringing extensive experience of curriculum, learning and school culture to his governance work. In addition to his role at Langley, he is also a Governor at Long Stratton High School. A keen natural historian, John lives in Norwich with his partner and their three Springer Spaniels.
Luca is the Chairman of Langley’s Alumni Society, the Icenians. He holds an MSc in Information Systems and has gone on to build two technology companies. He brings both a strong connection to the alumni community and strategic insight into technology implementation for the School. Luca is also a world record ocean rower, having rowed across the Pacific Ocean in 38 days. Luca is a proud alumnus of Langley School, where he attended from 2000 to 2013 and was a member of Mancroft House.
Louise Spall (BA Hons, PGCE) is a retired primary school headteacher with a lifelong commitment to education. She has two daughters, both of whom attended Langley Senior School and Sixth Form. Louise has a keen interest in art and gardening, and later in life took up running for fitness. She runs with the Norfolk Gazelles, proudly among the slower members. She currently serves as the governor responsible for Early Years, supporting young children’s development and learning within the school community.
