Enhancements to Langley Prep’s Reception provision

Langley Prep School aspires to be as accessible as possible to families keen to benefit from the value provided by an independent education.

We are making some changes to our Reception provision to ensure we are providing exceptional value and making it as easy as possible for families to choose Langley.

From September 2026, the fee for Reception will reduce to £9,028.00 (plus VAT). This represents a considerable 15% reduction in fees, matching the maximum funded hours that can be claimed*.

Funded hours will be increased for eligible children to the maximum of 30 hours per week from the current 15 hours.

Fees include our extensive PE curriculum, swimming lessons and all our outdoor learning activities. To many, our outdoor space is one of our crowning glories, allowing children to experience the freedom of childhood that can easily be lost in today’s technology-rich world.

We know that class sizes are really important to parents, so we commit to class size being capped at a maximum of 18.

We are also focused on accommodating the needs of working parents and have been considering how we can most closely match parents’ working hours. We are pleased to say that we will be harmonising opening times with those of Bluebell Nursery as many families use both facilities. Opening hours will now be 8.30am to 5.30pm. We are pleased to say we can also accommodate an early drop off at 8am for a small additional charge.

We know that school holiday arrangements can be a real headache, so we are delighted to announce that if your child joins Reception in September 2026, you’ll be entitled to 4 WEEKS FREE attendance at Explorers, our brand new holiday club provision based at the school and staffed exclusively by Langley staff. Additional booked weeks will be charged at a 10% discount.

One of the other questions we are often asked is about more flexible payment facilities. We are currently looking at introducing monthly payment options depending on demand. Please let us know when you apply if this is something of interest to you.

We are continuing to refurbish the Reception classroom areas, introducing a fresh and calm look, in alignment with our approach to learning. We are also working on new and exciting curriculum ideas to keep our provision ahead of that available elsewhere. Lastly, children who are not yet 5 during Reception year will benefit from 4 WEEKS FREE time alongside our oldest nursery children in Woodlands class (age 4+).

*We recognise that the use of funding towards residual fees is complex as family situations differ. However, we can outline that at the current funding rate (which normally increases annually in April), the maximum charge for parents, if no funded hours are available, would be £863.23 per month (over 12 months, plus VAT, where applicable). Where maximum funded hours are claimable, this would equate to just £361.63 (over 12 months, plus VAT, where applicable) per month.

These costs are inclusive of our £7.00 per day lunch and consumables.
