When Yve arrived at Langley from Australia in Year 11, she expected to stay for just one term. Three years later, she’s Head Girl, a key player in the Langley Football Academy, and an integral part of the boarding community.
“It’s been a rollercoaster,” she says with a smile. “Unexpected, but definitely fun.”
Being Head Girl has been one of the most special parts of Yve’s time at Langley. She has embraced the role with warmth and energy, getting to know students across the school and representing the Sixth Form with pride. Her advice for the next Head Girl or Head Boy is simple: “Get to know everyone.”
Football has been Yve’s passion from the start. As a committed member of the Langley Football Academy, she has thrived under the guidance of coaches who understand her ambitions and support her development both on and off the pitch.
One of her proudest achievements is earning a place in the ISFA U18 Women’s team, a milestone that reflects her dedication and talent.
Balancing football with academics has been a challenge she’s embraced. “The coaches are really supportive,” she explains. “If I need time for study, I can use my LFA periods. I’m motivated in both areas – football pushes me to be more productive in the classroom too.”Growing Through New Opportunities
Yve has taken every opportunity to broaden her skills and confidence. One standout experience has been NORMAC, which she originally joined with some hesitation but quickly grew to love.
“It’s actually really fun,” she says. “You debate, practice diplomacy, and talk about current issues. It’s helped my confidence so much.”
She’s also had plenty of chances to develop her people skills – from representing the school at the Royal Norfolk Show to speaking with alumni at Icenian events.
Her advice to her younger self? “Say yes to everything – especially in boarding. Immersing yourself in it makes all the difference.”
Boarding has been a defining part of Yve’s Langley journey. She describes it as something you can only truly understand once you’ve lived it.
“There’s an unspoken connection between boarders,” she explains. “It’s something special. You’re surrounded by different cultures and communities, and you learn so much from each other.”
Her favourite boarding meal? Lasagne – especially with the honey‑roasted carrots.
When asked what she would tell future families about Langley, Yve doesn’t hesitate.
“Langley meets you where you are. It’s very personalised. There are so many teachers, and you get really targeted help.”
She speaks highly of the Football Academy too: “They know your journey, your goals, even which clubs might suit you in the future. Everything is tailored. It’s all about individual improvement.”

Yve, Langley Head Girl
As for the future, Yve is keeping her options open. She’s applying to university and hopes to continue playing football at a high level. We look forward to seeing what Yve achieves in the years to come, both on and off the pitch.
