Last week, the Sports Hall of our pre-prep and prep school echoed with the delightful sounds of music as pupils showcased their talents in our annual Solo Instrumental Competition. This event is not only a platform for budding musicians to shine but also a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and passion for music that pupils exhibit throughout the year.
With a variety of instruments represented, from trumpet to the piano and beyond, the competition was a testament to the diverse musical skills within our school community. Each participant brought their unique flair to the stage, impressing the audience with their styles and interpretations of pieces.
After a spirited afternoon of performances, we are thrilled to celebrate two winners of this year’s competition. Congratulations to both of our young performers who were judged by our two esteemed guests.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our guest judges, Geoff Green and Emma Dale, who had the hard task of deciding who would be our winners.
Emma Dale, a member of our alumni, was the music director at Beeston Hall, a role she had enjoyed for eleven years. She now combines her teaching experience with the creative arts, giving workshops in North Norfolk.
Geoff Green, our Senior School Head of Performing Arts, brought his extensive musical experience and insight to the judging panel. Geoff has dedicated 25 years to teaching music and has successfully led music departments in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. His musical journey has seen him perform in a diverse array of groups, spanning genres such as rock, pop, jazz, musical theatre, and orchestral music.
As we conclude this year’s competition, we feel proud of each participant. Every performance was a reminder of the power of music to inspire, connect, and elevate our spirits. We look forward to seeing these talented students continue to develop their skills and share their love for music in the years to come.
This year, we are excited to announce the introduction of new Prep school scholarship opportunities specifically designed for pupils with a passion for music. These scholarships aim to not only encourage talented young musicians but also to provide them with the necessary resources and support to further develop their skills. To read more, Click Here.
