Celebrating Top A Level Results From The Class of ’26

The sun was shining as Langley’s Sixth Form students arrived to collect their A Level and BTEC results on Thursday. Pupils celebrated their fantastic results with friends, families and staff, as they discovered their next steps beyond Langley.

Our aim is to help our Sixth Formers find and follow their talents, and this has certainly been the case for this year’s Class of ’26.

A significant proportion of students, 32%, achieved top grades of A* and A, with certain subjects delivering truly exceptional performances across the board. 53% of A Level students achieved grades of A* to B. The overall pass rate (A*-E) was 98%. With an average grade of B, Langley’s results are comfortably ahead of the national average. All students passed their BTEC qualifications, with many scoring top grades. Extended Project Qualification results were again outstanding, with 100% of students achieving top grades of A* and A. 85% of students achieved places in their first-choice destinations.

Underlying these absolute percentages is another measure which is of significance, that of progress achieved versus their starting point. Against this measure, Langley’s performance (as measured by independent provider ALPS) is expected to once again feature in the top 10% of schools nationwide.

Individual personal challenges, accomplishments and ambitions lie behind the results, and each Sixth Former has a story to tell.

From Nursery to Sixth Form: A 15-Year Langley Journey

Among them is Rahin S. Studying Maths, Design and Technology and Physics at A Level, he gained an impressive clutch of grades, scoring A*,A* and A respectively. He secured a place at the University of Nottingham to study Mechanical Engineering. As part of this degree, Rahin will benefit from the experience of a year in industry. Rahin has always been interested in the automotive industry and is excited to apply his passion in real life. Rahin’s time in Sixth Form was marked by his contribution to Debating and the thriving Economics Club at the school, but his life at Langley began at a very young age as he has been with us since nursery.

Academic Success for International LFA Player, Yve

A second success story is Yve M, who combined her role as Head of School with A Levels in English, Economics and Chemistry, achieving outstanding results of A*, A* and A respectively. Yve was an outstanding football player for Langley Football Academy, and as a boarder she played a huge part in the life of the school. Yve has returned to her native Australia for a year to spend time with her much-missed family and consider her next career steps.

A Bright Future in Childcare

A pathway of a different nature is ahead for Tamika W. Having a passion for childcare, Tamika has already begun her Level 3 Apprenticeship in Bluebell Nursery, Langley’s outstanding Early Years provision. Tamika’s Sixth Form subjects were A Level Photography, in which she gained a B, Sport BTEC (Merit) and Leiths Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery (Merit).

Pursuing a Passion for Aerospace

Sean D scored a clutch of fantastic results, gaining an A* in Physics, and A’s in Chemistry and Maths. Sean will be going to the University of Nottingham to study Aerospace Engineering. He is particularly looking forward to the second year of his course, as it involves him creating a drone. Having always had an interest in aerospace, Sean credits his time at Langley with helping him to follow his passion. During his time at Langley, Sean played an instrumental role in our First XV Rugby team.

A Pathway for Every Pupil

Langley’s Class of ’26 now embark on the next stage of life, with many securing places at top-flight universities including the Universities of Bath, Nottingham, Southampton and Surrey. Several of our students are embarking on a year in the U.S., through the ESU (English Speaking Union) and one student has attained a place at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Degree choices are diverse, including Fine Art, Economics, Animal Behaviour and Business Management with Spanish. Other students have elected to pursue apprenticeships, a career in the creative sector, or professional training. Each path reflects not only the individual talents of our students, but the ability of Langley Sixth Form to support a diverse range of pathways.

Our students’ ambition and confidence to pursue their dreams is not a happy accident; it is an outcome of the environment that has nurtured them throughout their school lives. Langley Sixth Form is a close-knit community, and this enables an individual approach that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
