Langley School Hosts Successful Nelson Scholarship Assessment Day

Yesterday, Langley School welcomed aspiring students for the annual Nelson Scholarship Assessment Day at the Senior Site. This event is a vital opportunity for candidates seeking the prestigious Nelson Scholarship, which is supported by Nelsonspirit.

The Nelson Scholarship provides a fully funded two-year scholarship for ambitious young individuals to join our Sixth Form at Langley School. Throughout the day, hopeful candidates participated in a variety of activities, including interviews and leadership challenges, aimed at evaluating their skills and potential.

We were thrilled to have Icenian Flo Allen return as a guest speaker. A former Langley student, Flo has made a name for herself in professional football, having played for Bristol City Women in the Women’s Super League after her time at Langley. She also holds a degree in sports business management from the University of Gloucestershire and currently serves as the general manager for Norwich City Women’s team. It was inspiring to hear her insights on career development and leadership.

Our Director of External Relations, Jon Kempton, expressed his admiration for the candidates, stating they encountered “the strongest field of candidates” yet and praised the excellent performance of each participant.

Fifi S, a current Nelson Scholar at Langley School, remarked, “It was amazing to meet such a talented group of individuals! The day was thoroughly enjoyable, and I had some really interesting conversations. The talent and potential of the applicants blew me away. It was lovely to experience the day without the nerves I had at my own assessment day!”
