Langley School put their pens down for charity

29th November 2024

This week, Langley Senior School celebrated No Pens Day by putting their pens down in the name of charity and taking part in an exciting fundraiser. It was a chance for children to put their pens down, talk, listen, and take part in lots of pen-free activities, all whilst having fun raising valuable funds for Speech and Language UK.

On Wednesday, departments across the school took part in fun and educational activities that honoured the event, from making cake models to poetry recitations in class. For example, In English, our sixth-form students took inspiration from the text that they’re studying, The Handmaid’s Tail, and decorated cakes themed around Thanksgiving which they discussed in class.

No Pens Day, created by Speech and Language UK, is a way to raise awareness for the 1.9 million children struggling with talking and understanding words while raising vital funds for the charity. Their campaigns put pressure on politicians to prioritise support for children with speech and language challenges and help educate the public about what life is like for children struggling with talking and understanding words.

Well done to everyone who took part and donated!
