Prep School Verse Speaking Competition 2025

On the 4th of April, our Prep School proudly hosted its annual Verse Speaking Competition, showcasing the incredible talents of students from Years 3 to 8. The event brought together a wonderful array of young poets who thrilled the audience with their interpretations and performances.

In the weeks leading up to the competition, all pupils participated in their English lessons by sharing poems. From this initial round, teachers selected finalists, encouraging them to memorize and present their chosen pieces in front of a live audience of parents and fellow pupils.

The level of performance was truly impressive! Each participant exhibited remarkable confidence and creativity, leaving the audience captivated by their dramatic interpretations. This year, we were delighted to have Mr. Outwin-Flinders as our judge. He was incredibly encouraged by the high standard of each performance and praised the pupils for their hard work and dedication.

The competition featured a delightful mix of poems from various poets, along with original works from some of our very own pupils. This variety ensured that every performance was unique and engaging.
