Pupil nominated for BAFTA Young Game Designers Award

We are delighted to be celebrating pupil Sam S (Y8) as he was nominated for the 2024 Young Game Designers Award with BAFTA for his game ‘Car!’

This annual BAFTA competition challenges young people to create their own video games that are then judged based on gameplay design, creativity and suitability for the device it’s being played on. Sam’s project, ‘CAR!’, is a simple game set against a mountain backdrop under a nice blue sky. With the player controlling the car, players must traverse down the road whilst avoiding objects and trying not to fall off.

The pupils who are selected as finalists receive a bundle of games goodies from YGD partners; a series of exclusive masterclasses; digital mentorship and careers advice from industry experts and the opportunity to attend a special showcase event at BAFTA’s HQ in London.

Sam commented:

‘It has been a brilliant opportunity to be a part of BAFTA’s Young Game Designers competition with how much they put on for finalists, such as their showcases of all the finalist’s games at BAFTA’s HQ in London at the beginning of the summer holidays.’
