Be Stretched & Supported

Academic progress begins with knowing each pupil well. At Langley Senior School, pupils are supported, stretched and challenged, regardless of ability, within a broad and ambitious academic framework. Specialist staff bring further depth to this, including a native Mandarin-speaking teacher, experienced sports coaches and dedicated CCF instructors, giving pupils insight from real-world expertise.

We are committed to delivering a personalised approach to learning, supported by small teaching groups and one-to-one Microsoft devices for all pupils. This enables staff to tailor support and challenge, helping every pupil make strong progress from their own starting point. We continually review and develop our curriculum to reflect the needs and interests of our pupils. Our curriculum combines a strong academic foundation with creative, practical and future-focused subjects, including Fashion & Textiles, Computing, Design Technology, Languages, Music and the Sciences. As pupils progress through the school, they can choose from a wide range of GCSE options tailored to their interests and aspirations.

The Arts

The Arts at Langley Senior School offer pupils a creative and inspiring curriculum across art, drama, music, photography and performing arts. For some pupils, the moment they feel at home at Langley happens on stage, in the studio, behind a camera, at the lighting desk or in a rehearsal room.

Whether learning a musical instrument for the first time, rehearsing a performance, developing a portfolio or refining a creative idea, pupils are encouraged to understand that progress comes through practice, patience and perseverance. The Arts give pupils the space to explore who they are, build creative confidence and experience the sense of belonging that comes from creating something with others.

Sports

Sport at Langley Senior School is central to personal growth, wellbeing and character building.

Set within 110 acres near Norwich, pupils benefit from excellent indoor and outdoor facilities supporting a wide range of sports including football, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket and athletics.

Sport is inclusive and caters for all abilities, from recreational participation through to elite pathways such as the Langley Football Academy. Pupils develop resilience, teamwork and perseverance, while being encouraged to enjoy sport for life.

A strong fixture programme and specialist coaching provide challenge and support at every level, with opportunities to compete locally, regionally and nationally. Alongside core sports, students can access enrichment activities and modern facilities including gyms and all-weather pitches.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The classroom is only the starting point. At Langley, pupils are encouraged to explore widely, engage deeply and discover the opportunities that feel right for them.

Each term, pupils can choose from more than 80 daily enrichment activities, ranging from science-focused sessions to creative and enterprise-based opportunities such as Fantasy Share Trading.

A variety of lunchtime clubs are also available, including Women in STEM, Eco Club and Coding Club, encouraging pupils to broaden their interests and develop new skills.

Student Wellbeing and Personal Development

Langley School places pupil wellbeing at the centre of school life, with a whole-school approach involving staff, pupils and families in promoting positive mental health, resilience and a supportive community culture.

A strong pastoral system, including trained mental health first aiders, school nurses, counsellors and the dedicated ‘Time to Talk’ listening service, ensures pupils are well supported throughout their time at the school.

Wellbeing is embedded into daily life through Personal Development Education (PDE), covering topics such as mental health, relationships and identity, alongside mindfulness practices and outdoor wellbeing activities.

Additional support, including specialist SEND provision, is available for pupils with individual needs, helping every pupil to achieve academically and personally.

Boarding at Langley

Boarding at Langley is available in flexible formats, including full, weekly and flexi-boarding for pupils aged 10–18. The boarding environment provides a safe, supportive and welcoming “home away from home”, guided by dedicated pastoral staff. Boarders benefit from round-the-clock care and full access to the school’s extensive facilities, including sports halls, gym provision and floodlit all-weather pitches. Set in the heart of Norfolk, just outside the historic city of Norwich, Langley gives boarders easy access to the city’s culture, shopping and transport links, alongside the space and calm of a rural campus.
