Celebrating World Book Day: A School-wide Celebration

Yesterday, our school came alive with the magic of stories as pupils from Bluebell Nursery to the Langley Sixth Form celebrated World Book Day! To celebrate, the entire school community came together for a day filled with creativity, learning, and a shared love for books.

At our Senior School and Sixth Form, the festivities began as students arrived sporting their favourite literary character costumes. Our English department hosted a special initiative, the “ChocoLit Swap”, which encouraged pupils and students to bring in books they no longer needed. This not only promoted the joy of sharing but also fostered a sense of community. Thanks to the generosity of our pupils and students, we had a diverse collection of books available for everyone to explore. As they browsed through the selections, they also enjoyed hot chocolate, a perfect treat for the occasion.

The celebrations continued throughout our Nursery, Pre-prep and Prep school, as pupils wore their best character costumes to class. The library transformed into a hub of excitement, with students immersed in reading corners, sharing stories with friends, and discovering new authors. Throughout the day, there were fun reading activities hosted by teachers amongst other opportunities to celebrate World Book Day.

Celebrating World Book Day at our school was a fantastic reminder of the power of literature to inspire, educate, and connect us. We look forward to continuing our celebration of reading throughout the year and can’t wait for next year’s festivities!
