Engaging Debates: Pizza and Polemic

Last week, five schools came together at Langley School for a lively debate exploring two intriguing topics: the commercialization of Valentine’s Day and the question of whether “Love is Dead.”

Hosted in our Alston Centre, students from Hartismere School, Norwich School, Norbury High School for Girls, East Norfolk Sixth Form College, and Langley School participated in this enjoyable event, fueled by Domino’s Pizza and chocolate biscuits!

For this event, the students were in mixed teams, sharing their perspectives and working together. The event highlighted the importance of open dialogue and critical thinking in today’s society and celebrated the students’ engagement with these important topics. We are proud to offer these enriching opportunities to our students, who can participate in a variety of societies and clubs within our Sixth Form and Senior School.

Our director of External Relations, Jon Kempton, is the key organiser of the ‘Pizza and Polemic’ debate group which incorporates schools all across Norfolk and Suffolk. Debating, speaking and listening are vital and exciting parts of what we do at Langley School, and this is just one of the ways we share that within the community.
