Icenian interview Robert H 1 e1588848316387Did you know what career you wanted to follow when you were at Langley?

Yes, I always wanted to be an engineer on a motor racing team.

Tell us which extra-curricular activities you involved in.

In 2006 I went to Canada on rugby tour. I was in the rugby 1st XV, cricket team and athletics squad.

What did you study at university and how did your career begin?

I studied Motorsport engineering and then started working in body engineering for Lotus Cars.

Where are you now in your career and what have been the highlights?

I work as a studio engineer for Geely Design in Gothenburg, Sweden. A career highlight was working on the design for the new electric London Taxi. All the other projects since then are confidential.

What would you say to students choosing or starting their A-Levels?

My advice is to take advantage of every resource that is available to you to complete your studies. It may not help your grades now, but it’s not available to everyone else applying for their first job. Use the library, it’s a skill you need at university and not everyone knows how to use one. Use all the software available, make use of the science labs and DT workshops because other people can’t, and this puts you at an advantage.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I loved most of my time at Langley and I’d love for my daughter to go too.
