Last week Langley School commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day across the school community. From picnics to parades, pupils took part in fantastic celebrations throughout the afternoon.
At our Pre-Prep and Prep School, pupils and staff participated in a VE Day Picnic Party. The kitchens produced a wonderful spread for the Langley community and after a sumptuous lunch, all the pupils participated in games led by our Year 8 Prefects. It was a real treat to see the older pupils looking after the younger ones with such care and attention. A very worthwhile and enjoyable event.
In Loddon, Langley Senior School and Sixth Form marked VE Day by coordinating its annual Services Day. The highlight of the day included a special parade featuring a visiting senior-ranking officer from the military, who inspected the school’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF). As per tradition, the identity of the distinguished visitor remained a closely guarded secret until the event, adding an element of surprise and excitement.
The day was a powerful blend of reflection and community spirit, honouring the legacy of those who fought for our freedom.

“Poignant assemblies and reflective lessons were planned for all areas of Langley on VE Day. So many brave young soldiers left the county of Norfolk to fight in the war. The sacrifices they made then helped forge the future of our children today. It is a timely reminder of how lucky we are.”
