Remembrance Day 2022

11th November 2022

As part of our remembrance service, this year as a Langley community we came together to remember ‘Masters’ and ‘Old Boys’ of the Boys Model School, Norwich, who gave their life for our country in the First World War, 1914-1918. The Boys Model School, or Norwich High School for Boys, was founded in 1910 and later became Langley School.

The names read out in the service were the names of those who have never been read before. As a Langley Community it is important that we keep the memory of these people alive, since once they were one of us. Representatives of Langley Senior School’s CCF attended the annual Remembrance Service at the War Memorial Cottages in Mousehold, which has been a long-standing tradition of the School. The service was attended by ex-servicemen and currently serving men and women, Lady Dannatt, along with pupils from Langley School and Cecil Gowing Infants School. The Last Post and Reveille were played beautifully by a self-taught bugler, and Langley pupil William, and pupils from both schools laid a wreath. After the service, Langley cadets introduced themselves to Lady Dannatt and mixed with the ex-servicemen and currently serving men and women of the Armed Forces.

All our pupils reflected on those who sacrificed their lives in the service of our country, honouring their memory and ensuring that it lives on.
