Today, our school community witnessed a unique and spirited demonstration as a few of our pupils unified their voices in support of farmers. Dressed in their trusty wellies, students and pupils showed their support, highlighting the vital role that agriculture plays in our community.
This has occurred as farmers across the nation have been left reeling by the Labour Party’s changes to inheritance tax on farms, leading to a strong public response. Today, approximately 20,000 farmers and their families participated in a large rally in Westminster against Labour’s so-called “tractor tax.”
As our pupils gathered, they shared messages of encouragement and appreciation for the hard work that goes into food production, emphasizing that the support of local farmers is vital for a sustainable future.
Lily (U6), our Head Girl at Langley School, commented, “We chose to wear wellies in solidarity.” Another Sixth Form student, Zak (U6), said he was proud to be “doing my bit” for the cause.
