Today, the Langley community was excited to celebrate the Chinese New Year, or the Lunar New Year, with a range of activities throughout the school. One event was coordinated with the help of our East Asian students in the EAL (English as an additional language) department who put on a break-time noodle bar to allow the wider school to share oriental food culture and raise money for charity.
The students enjoyed the process of setting up the noodle bar, serving the noodles and even packing down again afterwards. The smell of the soup wafted through the air, the courtyard glowed red from decorations and the sounds of Chinese music filled the air as a 20-minute frenzy of activity saw around 200 bowls of noodles sold.
Proceeds this year are being split between St. Martins Charity for the Homeless and Little Lifts, a charity supporting those with breast cancer.
Thank you to our EAL department for organising this wonderful initiative, to our pupils who ran the noodle bar and to Issac C (Y11) who took wonderful photographs, some of which can be viewed below.
Here’s to a year filled with kindness, joy, and prosperity!
