Langley Senior School hosted a panel of three incredible speakers for an ‘Adventure & Exploration’ talk in which the audience heard about inspiring experiences going up against the world’s toughest oceans.
The three guests are all former pupils and returned to Langley to talk about their world record rows; the challenges they faced and, importantly, what they learnt and gained from their experiences. Comradery was a big theme, as was the importance of being part of a team, plus sacrifice and determination. 28 year old Luca compered the evening, having in June accomplished a world record for his Pacific ocean row with two others (including another fellow Icenian). There must be something in the water at Langley!
It is no mean feat to row the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans, and the audience learnt about facing the elements, eating and resting – and sometimes not managing either. There was humour too, with some fun stories relayed and insightful moments shared.
It was a fantastic lecture, delivered by inspiring individuals, who we are very proud to include in the Langley family. Thank you Luca, Ian and Julian!
