United by rugby.
Here at Langley School in the UK, rugby is part of our DNA. Which is why we loved following the HSBC Mini & Youth Rugby Festival this year! Our Senior School Headmaster, Mr Simon Cooke was there cheering all those playing at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai. What a fantastic weekend it was!
At Langley, rugby isn’t just a sport, it’s a way of life. Alumni who have come through Langley and Taverham Hall (now Langley Prep School), include Jack van Poortvliet (England and Leicester), George Loose (Leicester Tigers), James Cherry (Nottingham), and Dafydd-Rhys Tiueti (Coventry), to name a few.
Across the world, grass roots rugby is where it all starts and there is nothing better than seeing youngsters involved in the game of rugby. The mini and youth tournament in Dubai offered a super glimpse of the stage on which senior rugby can be played. For everyone who took to the pitch, we hope you enjoyed it as much as our Headmaster did! Here’s to next year.
On our home turf, every year we host our own U15 National Rugby Festival, attracting the most elite sporting schools from across the UK every October. Wellington College have won two years in a row and the standard of rugby is exceptional every year. There is international interest in the festival, and we look forward to welcoming friends from overseas – including Dubai – in the coming years.
